Chelsea Transfer News: Latest on John Terry and Miralem Pjanic Rumours

John Terry has confirmed he wants to stay at Chelsea, despite standing to earn significantly more money if he goes to play in China next season.
has stated Terry will miss out on as much as £17 million should he turn down a move to China. The Sun's Jamie Gordon had reported the veteran centre-back is ready to move to China on a deal paying around £12 million a year.
But Terry has since confirmed his desire to stay in west London, per the division's official Twitter:
The Independent's Matt Gatward had more: "I want to stay. The club knows that, the fans know that. We all want the same thing. I’ve said for a long time I want to finish my career here. I'll be speaking to the club over the next few days.”
Terry was speaking following Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Premier League champions Leicester City at Stamford Bridge, per BBC Sport's Shamoon Hafez.

This comes after Terry confirmed on Instagram (h/t Mark Ashenden and Paul Vinnell of Sky Sports) he's been offered a new one-year deal and a "different role" to stay on at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had originally decided against bringing 35-year-old skipper Terry back next season, according to BBC Sport. But the club appears to have had a rethink. In fact, Chelsea might even have roles for Terry's former teammate, Frank Lampard, and incumbent manager Guus Hiddink next season, per Colin Mafham of the Sunday Express.
Keeping Terry at Chelsea would maintain a link to the club's most successful period and the new era incoming manager Antonio Conte will try to create. Terry's presence would be a sign of continuity and give the Italian an experienced figure to help ease his adaptation to life in England's top flight.

Conte may need to rely on Terry's experience next season.
Those things are worth extending Terry's Chelsea career for another year.

Miralem Pjanic Nearing Juventus Move

Conte may find part of his plans to rebuild Chelsea's squad scuppered as mooted transfer target Miralem Pjanic is reportedly nearing a move to Serie A giants Juventus.
The Turin club are ready to activate AS Roma playmaker Pjanic's release clause, according to Italian source Mediaset (h/t Joe Short of the Sunday Express): "Juve have hijacked Chelsea's pursuit by agreeing to stump up the £30 million that triggers Pjanic's release clause."

But the same report also revealed how Roma press officer Lorenzo Serafini took to Twitter to deny a Juventus bid. If so, then Chelsea still have a chance of signing a player they've been heavily linked with recently.
Last month, Simon Johnson of the London Evening Standard reported the Blues are willing to hand Pjanic a "three-year contract of more than £65,000 a week to bring him to Stamford Bridge."
Signing Pjanic would be a coup for any club thanks to his mix of intelligence, naturally impudent flair and superior technique. Yet Chelsea's need for another gifted playmaker is not great as long as Cesc Fabregas remains in the fold.
Fabregas is still good enough to dictate things in the final third for Chelsea.
The Spaniard has struggled at times this season but remains a pass-and-move master who can open up any defence. He'll be vital for Conte's attack next season.
The new manager will know he needs to rebuild Chelsea's squad after a disastrous title defence. But keeping faith in some of the club's current resources, especially Terry's know-how and the creative verve of Fabregas, will be crucial in helping Conte lay the right foundation.
